Thank you so much Doctor 🙏🙏🙏🙏 ihave the some problems i need to wieght 🙏🇮🇳
Surgeon saying "dAIsekt"? Then what about DISSEMINATION, DISSLOVE, DISSATISFACTION etc? Is it so difficult to speak your NATIVE language correctly?
I had this hernia after c section six month since 4 years
Than you for this!
Is the patient giving general anesthesia or anything else besides the local ????
Just had mine done 3 weeks ago. It's infected and I probably will have to do it again. Dr drained it 2 days ago, it was sticking out real bad. Now it's puffing up again already. I'm praying the antibiotics start kicking in and it starts to get better. I'm so bummed. I'm 61 and live alone. The Dr came in with a 1st year medical student. When the Dr was squeezing the liquid out the young kid passed out and went out cold. Kinda crazy because it wasn't even blood. I heard it happens quite often.

Briliant doctor !
Amazing technique!
Ok bowl movements after a hernia surgery. Should people automatically start with a stool softener after surgery then if needed go to a laxative, then an enema if necessary? Could those meds be combined and for how long should people take these bowl movement helpers if you will? I doubt push it real good should be an option. If no luck after how many days would be considered serious? Thanks.
That was so awesome to watch. My sister is having the surgery on the 10th.
What is the long term recovery look like for someone who is still getting bulging in the area and pain after a few months? I don't feel any mass there like before, but do I have a hernia still? Or how long does it actually take? Thanks Dr.
Thank you Doctor. I’ve had open surgery and this video makes so much sense to me. God bless🙏🏼
3 weeks in with mesh healing well
Just had my surgery today. Feeling sore and some pain getting up and down. I had an inguinal hernia. For my first surgery ill say its not to bad I went all day without pain meds only so I can see how bad it hurt. I give the pain a 5 on a 1to 10 scale. When relaxing barley and pain. I got my surgery right away while my hernia was small. So anyone going to surgery you will be ok. Your just going to take a nap and wake up. My surgery was 1hr and 22 min long. So hope this helps first day post opp and im feeling ok. Be careful moving have help.
Thank you for sharing your comments. Good luck in your recovery.
Have you any opinion of using antidepressants like duloxetine or tricyclic for potential nerve pain? Is it worth trying?
We are not familiar with those options for nerve pains after a hernia repair.

I am 2 weeks out of open inguinal hernia repair. I get short bouts of extreme excruciating pain usually sitting and out of nowhere it happens. Also happens when putting any kind of bending pressure on my left side with my leg involved. It usually lasts for a minute. At what point do I recognize this as chronic? Is it too early to make that call?
Having sharp pains 2 weeks after any surgery, including a hernia repair, is not uncommon. As the inflammation and swelling from the surgery resolves, most patients have an ongoing resolution of their symptoms.
Mine was Friday and today is Monday, and I’ve been every second in excruciating pain. Two big ones, umbilical and epigastric, no mesh, stitches.
Thank you for your comments. We wish you best in your recovery.
One of those minor quick ops that can be done on the kitchen table at home. Thanks for instruction, I have my first volunteer next week. Regards from South Africa
Thank you for your comments. Good luck.
@@CaliforniaHerniaSpecialists Hope you got my humour. It was a very instructive and interesting video for for a non med person like myself. BTW. I have just had a bi-lateral done. First in on a Monday and out Next day. Almost no pain, did a 1 kilometer walk on folowing monday, a little uncomfortable for a few weeks but fast healing and no complications. Had a spinal and a drop or two of prop. Back to my old 68 year old self again. Regards from South Africa
We thank God for the knowledge
Thank you for your comments.
That poor man must be morbidly obese.
3years still discomfort and have pain
Thank you for your comments. We're sorry to hear about your ongoing issues.
Had this done yesterday. Feeling good today. Amazing what they can do with laparascopic technique and so thankful for the skill of surgeons and their teams. I'd like to see the tacks and learn what they are made of. The confidence in which he places the tacks speaks to the surgeons excellent knowledge of the tacks and the surrounding tissues.
Thank you for your comments. Good luck in your recovery.
I had Bi lateral hernia repair….its 3 weeks later.… I can't bend over😢
Thank you for your comments. Most swelling will resolve in weeks to months after the surgery so hopefully your flexibility will improve soon.
Just had mines yesterday the umbilical hernia open , get them pain killers ready …. The doctors did a great job at NYP you will be sore get some grab handles around anywhere you need to get up . For example your bed bathroom because getting up is the hardest as u may want to role out then just standing up right away
I get mine repaired tomorrow and this is a breathe of fresh air thanks doc
Good luck in your upcoming recovery. Keep us posted on your progress.
My job requires lifting a 25 lb ramp multiples times a day and assisting patients in and out of a medical transportation van. Also, pushing 300 to 400 lb patients in sidewalks and up ramps. When do you think I will be healed enough for that type of activity. I am a 60 yr old man and will be having unbiblical hernia surgery. Thanks!
We allow our patients to return to all heavy lifting and other activities at 3 weeks post surgery.
useful, thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Iv been sick every since i got this abdominal mesh, its caused alters .an pain
Thank you for your comments.
Omg
Thank you for your comments.
Can you go in the ocean without swimming, just relaxing after one week? thanks!
We advise our patients to avoid submerging their incisions for roughly 2 weeks after any surgery.
Not so true, don't stay inside and sitting down, lesson 101, stay moving around as much as possible, without overdoing it. If you relax resting and sitting down, if and when you go to get up or move, your in serious pain and danger. So keep moving around
Thank you for your comments.
The surgery is roughly under $4,000, that's not bad, I might go there.
Thank you for your comments. We would be happy to take good care of you.
Got mines coming next week cross my fingers
Neat and clean job done. Especially recreating the good gold navel restoration was the icing on the cake :]
Glad you liked it!
Hi Dr Harris could you do a more indepth video on sports hernias and the approaches to correct them,. In my research it seems like theres not one direct way of repair. but would be interested in the laproscopic with mesh vs open with sutures
We will work on getting more information regarding sports hernias. In the meantime, our website discusses some of the broader ideas.
Sir,,, i had my open inguinal hernia surgery 8 month ago...but still i feel mild pain in the surgical area and groin and right testicle...it is not severe pain...it is very small pain and i can tolerate it...sir,,,is it any problem...is it a symptom of mesh failure, mesh infection or mesh erosion??? Please sir reply 🙏🙏
Having some soreness at the site of a surgery can occur for up to a year as the tissues and muscles heal.
Uu mese fa .. un male bóia
Thank you for your comments.
Please practice on me
Is this painful?
Each patient has different levels of pain after this procedure but most only require a couple of opioid tablets for several days after the surgery.
Is 'OPEN Surgery ' better than 'Robotically ( Davinci Xi ) Assisted' for an 8CM Umbilical Incisional Hernia?
It would depend on each surgeons training and experience. Both surgeries can offer a good outcome when done well.
IMPRESSIVE!
Thank you for your comment.
What does ice mean? I just had hiatel hurnia repair and wasn't told about ice.
Icing the area where the hernia was located and the incision can dramatically reduce swelling, bruising and pain after surgery. Usually 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off is a safe start, but patients can increase that as needed.
@@CaliforniaHerniaSpecialists thank you so much! It's 4 day after sugery and I'm in excruciating pain. I'm start that now .
What about hiatal hernia? I've been struggling with it for years and don't know much about it other than that my doctor diagnose me with it after doing an endoscopy and put me on antacid and proton pump inhibitor which didn't improve my symptoms at all.
We don't operate on hiatal hernias so we wouldn't be able to help.
This Dr is the real deal, I followed all the directions after the surgery and had very little pain and didn't take much pain meds...
Thank you for your comments. We're glad your recovery went so smoothly!
I am having this surgery soon 😱😱
Thank you for your comments. Good luck in your recovery and keep us posted.
good news
Thank you for your comments.
Can the patient do long drive after surgery or after 2 days of surgery?? Answer will be helpful. Thank you
We allow our patients to return to driving as soon as they are not taking any opioids and can safely press the brake pedal.
Does umbilical hernia causes pain in the navel?
Some umbilical hernias can cause pain, while others just show up as a bulge.
